Authentic Chinese food is nothing like we get in North America. No sweet and sour pork, chicken balls or chop suey. The "real" Chinese food we have tried we don't particularly like. The dishes offered are bullfrog, tongue, duck intestines and pigs feet. Of course there are some good "normal" sounding dishes that are still hit and miss. They also tend to be on the spicy side which isn't that great for kids. Rice and noodle dishes seem fairly standard and tasty. That being said, there is one meal we can't get enough of. Jianbing. It is a breakfast found on the street composed of a crepe-like wrap with egg, scallions, cilantro, red bean paste (and an optional spicy chili paste) with a crispy, deep-fried flat bread and folded into a huge burrito, made before our very eyes for approx. 50 cents CAD. Super delicious and very filling. There can often be long line ups as people pick up a few on their way to work and we are lucky there is a location not far from our place that makes them. The kids ask for one almost every morning and Joe will usually grab one on his way to work. Check out my video to see how it's made :)
